Elise Traynum is the General Counsel for the ACLU of Northern California. Prior to joining the ACLU, she served as the General Counsel for UC Law SF for 15 years and worked as an associate, and then as a partner, in three Bay Area law firms. Among her many accomplishments and awards, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame of California State University San Bernardino in 2013. In 2010, she defended UC Law SF in Christian Legal Society v. Martinez, which was heard by the U.S. Supreme Court. She holds a JD from UC Law SF and a certificate in Higher Education Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
